I would be happy to stay there again.

Location, helpful staff, comfortable beds, good breakfast.

We had 2 rooms; the standard one at the front of the property was good but looked on to the street and was very noisy in the morning. The larger room at the back was quiet but very dark - it opened onto a terrace which meant that curtains had to be kept closed for privacy. Also although it was a premium room it didn't have any comfortable chairs to sit on.

Great location when visiting Ghent. Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean and breakfast was lovely.

Location was excellent, beds comfortable, breakfast was lovely as well.

Staff were accomodating but not overly friendly, smell of cleaning products was overwhelming, some extra viewing options for movies etc would have been nice.

Lovely hotel, amazing location right by the old town. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the room was clean and spacious. Really lovely hot shower too.

Unfortunately noisy and dark.

Good service. Looks great.

Noise from unloading across the road at 5am woke us every day. Needs better soundproofing. Also the room was very dark even when all the lights were on.

Warm welcome when we arrived. Very clean and comfortable room. Location excellent for exploring the city.

Enjoyable stay with minor shortcomings

very friendly and responsive staff, great location in the center within walking distance to the major sights

both the breakfast room, as well as the bar had noisy refrigerators. That is an absolute no-no for a 4 star hotel. Luckily we did not have to spend much time there.

Location , very nice new and big bedroom, with seating area

Rooms where in an inner courtyard with loud people at night there and people walking on top of our flat roof to reach their rooms. Very noisy. On top of that the climate control wouldn’t work so it was hot in the room

What was the highlight of Hotel de Flandre Ghent

A mixed experience for a one-night stay in Ghent.

Hôtel de Flandre is in a very central location, it’s easy to get around the city and you can walk everywhere. Everything was extremely clean, and the reception area of the hotel (bar, breakfast room, welcome desk) are beautiful and well-decorated. Our room was clean and very spacious. We were in room 441, so right below the roof. When you get into the room you first see the bathroom & stairs, which then lead you to the second part, the bedroom itself. It’s simple, functional, there is a bed, a closet with an ironing board, a coffee machine, complimentary tea, coffee and a fridge with water. We were able to check in from 3PM, and had the possibility of leaving our luggage in a dedicated closet which was also nice. The staff was professional and helpful, and it was very quiet at night despite being there on a public holiday.

Our room was boiling hot. The receptionist informed us that the A/C system had an issue/wasn’t turned on yet, only heating. Our room was way warmer than the outside and we had to leave the window open - even though it was around 23° tops (average between 18-20) that day (May 9), the heat was way too much due to being under the roof and it made it difficult to sleep. I wish we’d been informed of the unique configuration of the room we were put in (the fact that the bathroom & bedroom were on two different levels). Overall, this hotel is not the best value for money (in my opinion), the breakfast is 22€, there is no restaurant or additional amenities. Even the rooms could benefit from a bit more character in their decoration - for a boutique hotel that prides itself on being uniquely configured and authentic (which it certainly is!), a bit more of an effort could be made in the rooms (a painting, wooden floors with rugs instead of carpet), the place surprisingly lacks soul.

A lovely hotel with a friendly staff and very comfortable bedrooms.

A super hotel right in the middle of the city. Very comfortable with a good breakfast. I would stay here again.

The room I had (111) had a slight damp smell in the bathroom, and I couldn't get the A/c to work. Not a problem in may, but might be an issue later in the year.

Location of the hotel was perfect, right around the corner from the castle and the Kornmarkt. Easy to get to by city transit from train station The room had all amenities and was clean and spacious Didn’t try breakfast
